Buying a new home is probably the biggest purchase of your life and you want it to be perfect. Getting an independent qualified person who is working for you and not the builder, to compile a snag list, is the only way to assure yourself that you are getting a home with no defects, be they big faults such as an uneven floor or small ones, such as an off-level electrical socket. You don’t want these things causing you problems or irritation, and costing you money to fix, after you move in. It’s much more difficult to get defects addressed once you have taken ownership of your new home and realise that a door catches on the floor and won’t close or the en-suite toilet won’t flush and needs to be fixed.
